Platinum Air-Conditioning Services was established in 2012 by owner, Ben Gray. Ben started his apprenticeship in Sydney in 1998 and brought his trade experience to Mackay in 2003, where he initially worked for a commercial air-conditioning and refrigeration company. The following year he joined another local company, which specialised in repairs, before starting as a contractor in 2008.

In 2011, he entered the mining industry, working on drag lines, cable tractors and heavy vehicles, including dump and water trucks. But uneven rosters enticed him back to contracting until, having become a father, he started his own business. Ben doesn’t regard himself as a businessman, his focus being on doing right by customers and creating a good working environment for his 13 longstanding staff.
