Home Air Conditioning
Heating and cooling your house is an important aspect of your home life. Many
things need to be considered when choosing a suitable air conditionin unit, including the area of the home you are trying
to heat or cool, the type of system to be installed, the installation process
and of course your budget.
The Budget
As with all items you purchase, your budget will be a major factor in what
you buy. It is always important to look at all alternatives
and to buy
a system
that
will
do what you want it to do while still keeping within your budget.
The purchase and installation of a heating and cooling system for your home
is quite a big undertaking and becomes a permanent fitting that will be used
all the time. Budget is important but the purchasing of a system that will
actually do what you want it to is a far more important aspect. It is useless
buying and installing a system that is cheaper
if it doesn't do what you need it to.
Platinum Air understand budget constraints but we also know what
systems will work for the conditions. We will only ever advise the purchase
of a unit that will do the job it is designed
for.
Our advice is based on many years of experience. Pricing will vary depending
on the type of system required, brand name as well as the features
each have. We will sit down with you and discuss all options and let you decide
which
you
would
like.
The System Recommended
The type of air conditioning system we will recommend will depend on many
variables. These include:
- whether it will need to heat as well as cool
- the amount of heat the occupants and appliances in your home generate
- the amount of shade that is on your home's windows, walls, and roof
- the amount of insulation in your home
- the size of your home and the amount of windows
- the amount of air leaking into your home from the outside
- the access we have for the installation
Air Conditioning Types
Room Air Conditioners:
Used to provide cooling only
where needed. They cool individual rooms as opposed to the entire
house. They are generally cheaper
than central air systems but their efficiency is typically
lower. Benefits are obviously the price and that they are portable and can
be moved to different rooms.
Split-System Air Conditioners:
Split system air conditioners are units used in homes
where extending or installing distribution ductwork is not feasible. Split
systems are ductless with the main refrigeration unit positioned outside
the house with the fan unit mounted internally on a wall.
Ducted Central Air Conditioners:
Used to cool and heat an entire home. Ducts are installed in ceilings and sometimes
floors with the main air conditioning unit installed outside the home.
The Installation
The installation of your system is just as important. Air Conditioning units
require to be installed as per manufacturers specifications as well as Australian
Safety Standards. Units that are not installed correctly can be very inefficient
and in some cases dangerous. Our fully trained and insured staff are conversant
with all the safety standards and rules for all types of installations to ensure
your unit works as per manufacturers requirements and follows Australian Safety
Standards.
